Fun Basketball Games You Can Play With a Mini Hoop

Hi, I’m River!

I’m 11 and I started Hoops for Good because I love basketball and wanted to help other kids get into the game too.

If you’ve got a mini basketball hoop (like the one I sell here!), there are heaps of fun games you can play indoors—by yourself or with your mates.

Here are some of my favourites. You can play these in your room, hallway, or anywhere you’ve got a safe space to hang a hoop.

1. Mini Hoop HORSE
This is just like the real version of HORSE but for indoors. Take turns making trick shots—if your friend makes one, you have to copy it. If you miss, you get a letter. First one to spell HORSE loses!

Tip: Try bounce shots, behind-the-back shots, or one-handers.

2. 60-Second Slam
Set a timer for one minute and see how many shots you can make before the buzzer goes off. Try to beat your high score—or challenge your brother, sister or parents!

3. Around the World (Bedroom Edition)
Mark 5 different spots around your room—each one a bit harder than the last. Take one shot from each. If you miss, you have to start again from the beginning.

4. One-Hand Challenge
Use your non-dominant hand only. It’s tricky!
(If you’re right-handed, try shooting with your left. If you’re left-handed, switch it up.)

5. Trick Shot Battle
Set up a few creative shots—like bouncing it off the door, over the shoulder, or even lying on your bed and tossing it in. Take turns with a friend to see who can land the craziest trick shot.

Why a Mini Basketball Hoop is Awesome

Playing with a mini hoop at home is a great way to stay active, have fun, and get better at shooting. It’s one of the best basketball gifts for kids, and it doesn’t take up much space.

The Hoops for Good mini hoop comes with everything you need—plus, $10 from every sale goes to help other kids play basketball too.

Try These Games and Tag Me!

If you try any of these, tag me in your video on TikTok or YouTube. I’d love to see your shots, your room setups, or your best trick shot fails.

Got a new game idea? Let me know in the comments and maybe I’ll feature it next time!
