Top 5 Things You Should Never Do With Your Mini Hoop

Hi, I’m River!

I love my mini basketball hoop—and I want yours to last too.
But to be honest, I’ve made a few mistakes (and maybe broken a few things…) learning what not to do.

So here are 5 things you should never do with your indoor mini hoop, unless you feel like getting in trouble.

1. Don’t Hang on the Rim

Even if you just made a massive dunk. Even if your little brother is watching. Just don’t.
The hoop is strong—but it’s not made for full-on hanging like the NBA.
(Sorry. I learned this the hard way.)

2. Don’t Use a Real Basketball

Yes, I’ve tried. No, it didn’t go well.
Real basketballs are heavy and can bend the hoop, damage the door, or take out your light.
The soft ball that comes with your hoop is way better—and safer indoors.

3. Don’t Set It Up on a Slamming Door

If your door slams a lot, or if people are always opening it super fast—maybe pick a different one.
I once had a hoop fly off mid-shot because someone barged in.
It was chaos. Funny—but chaos.

4. Don’t Forget to Check Behind You

Trick shots are awesome. But if your little sister is walking past with a bowl of cereal… maybe wait a second.
Mini hoops + flying balls = not great for glass things.

5. Don’t Leave It Hanging When You’re Not Home

If you’ve got younger siblings, pets, or wild gusts of wind from open windows—take the hoop down when you’re not using it.
Better safe than sorry. Plus, it only takes 10 seconds to put it back up.

Keep It Fun (And in One Piece)

Mini hoops are made for fun—not destruction.
Look after yours, and it’ll last ages. You can try all the trick shots, challenges, and games without worrying about wrecking your room.

Need a New One?

Grab a hoop from the shop.
It comes with everything you need—and $10 from every sale goes to support kids through basketball programs.
